Gary McRobb, Director

In May 2021, Gary joined the Ann McRobb Associates team as Operations Director to support growing demands on the business.  Ann had the perfect candidate for this position to manage the operational support side of the business.

Gary has an extensive background in the energy sector which includes working for leading fluid transfer, power, and control solutions providers since 1982.   His senior management and business development positions has gained Gary a wealth of experience making him well positioned to focus on growth and operational support.

Since having Gary as a key part of the team, Ann McRobb Associates has harnessed his expertise to expand our operations, onboard new clients and successfully continue to foster new and existing relationships.

Patrick McRobb, Business Management Trainee

Ann McRobb Associates is proud to develop future workforce talent with the introduction of our first Business Management Trainee, Patrick.

In September 2022, Patrick left full time employment to join the ranks of the McRobb family business.  With a background in retail supervision, Patrick is undertaking a two-year business management graduate programme and will be working with Ann McRobb Associates alongside his studies towards the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) recognised qualification.

The training programme will allow Patrick to build an in-depth knowledge of business management across a range of areas - project management, decision-making, leadership and more.

Ray Wilson, Associate

As Managing Director or Array Training Ltd, Ray works closely with Ann McRobb Associates to deliver NDT Training, Consultancy and Level 3 services to our clients around the world.  Bringing a wealth of experience, Ray has built a solid reputation in the industry over the last 30 years and is highly qualified in NDT, holding multiple NDT Level 2 & Level 3 certification in compliance with ISO 9712 (PCN) and also ASNT NDT level II/III certification since 1990.

Ray is also chairman of the North-East Scottish branch of the British Institute of NDT – and achieved the T. H. Cole Award for the Branch on achieving the greatest percentage growth in membership and presented by BINDT with the NEMET Award in recognition of the outstanding example of the effective use of Non-Destructive Testing.  it’s safe to say his industry knowledge is unrivalled.

Norman Smith, Associate

With over 25 years of offshore experience, Norman of Steinish Marine brings a wealth of knowledge and industry expertise to the Ann McRobb Associates network providing marine supervision and consultancy services to clients in the Offshore and Renewables sectors. Norman is a highly qualified Master Mariner and OIM holding a Master (II/2) STCW 95 CoC. He is committed to ensuring safe and sustainable operations are carried out at all times.

Beginning his marine career as a cadet in the late 1980s, Norman has worked his way through the ranks, ultimately achieving command, absorbing relevant industry knowledge and skills to develop a deeper understanding of how the offshore industry works. Through his extensive career, Norman has built a comprehensive network of longstanding relationships with people at various levels in differing disciplines. When it comes to marine operations and proficiency, Norman is the best man for the job.

Lee Hepburn, Associate

After an extensive offshore drilling career spanning over 20+ years, part of Lee’s role was to provide the service of competence assessor and internal verifier to his team, which then lead Lee to become involved in the roll out of competency programs and initiatives across offshore operations originally supporting candidates, assessors and internal verifiers.

Lee collaborates with Ann McRobb Associates to deliver relevant guidance and evaluations to clients operating in the offshore energy industry.  Lee brings an immersed perspective to competency management understanding the daily workings of the people and environments being assessed – Lee can spot things others might miss.

George Sutherland, Associate

As a highly experienced Crane Operator and Deck Foreman for the last 20 years, working with a range of leading offshore multi-national crews in the UK and around the world, George offers deep industry knowledge and is a trusted associate to Ann McRobb. 

Starting his offshore career in 2001 with Diamond Drilling, George has built his extensive experience in all aspects of drilling operations including managing deck crews, fire team leadership, training crews and coaching expats.  With a keen interest in coaching and development, George has worked extensively offshore in Nigeria to deliver classroom based and onsite training and competency programmes to all Exxon crane operators and deck crews. 

Safety is paramount in George’s field of expertise.  With excellent attention to detail, George is focused on assuring all policies, procedures and industry best practice is implemented to always ensure safe operations. 

George works closely with Ann McRobb Associates to help strengthen competencies across a variety of industry disciplines and share his expertise and commitment to get the job done safely and correctly first time, every time.
